Letter to Sri Lankan Catholic Bishops

Your Lordships,
You are well aware of the Penal Code Amendment bill now in parliament, which according to the determination issued by the Supreme Court would decriminalise public expression of “gross indecency” and “unnatural carnal intercourse”.
No doubt you have wondered why it is necessary to repeal this dormant law – when homosexual prostitutes trade themselves openly on street corners and the beaches; corporations and government institutions are being trained by foreign-funded NGOs on the “normality” of sodomy and the insanity of transgenderism; “pride” parades are celebrated in the capitals and “gay” bars, clubs and hotels operate freely in this country?
While the Conference of Bishops is vociferous on political issues, you have remained and continue to remain silent on abortions committed daily in national and private hospitals, on abortifacient drugs and devices and contraceptives that are sold in all pharmacies, on the proliferating IVF clinics, devil-worshipping festivals at public venues, and the rampant pornography.
This bill which you loudly assent to, through your deafening silence, will – as the Supreme Court has explained, proclaim the “dignity” of homosexual acts, confirm sodomy as a fundamental human right and emphasise the preeminence of liberalism over morality.
Sanctioning LGBT affirms, again as the SC elaborates, that all types of sexual behaviour are Equal, and that the self-giving, faithful, fruitful union between man and woman in marriage, partaking in the image of the Trinitarian communion, willed by God and manifest in the design of man in his complementarity as male and female – is merely one among a legion of sexual orientations and expressions, each one equal to another.
You are collaborating with this degradation of marriage and demeaning of the matrimonial union by your silence, and you are gravely betraying your God-given mission as shepherds and teachers. Judas received silver shekels which he threw away – what do you gain from your allegiance with the Mission of the Father of Lies, whose downfall was on account of his PRIDE?
It is not just the Church that needs to proclaim that there is only one context in which sexual activity is licit, but it is in the interest of the state to protect and defend the sanctity of marriage and family, not only in the interests of private and public health, private and public morality, but also because a healthy nation is built on stable natural families, and families are founded on lifelong faithful marriage between a man and a woman - and marriage is wounded and eventually decimated when the counterfeits of lesbianism, bisexualism, pansexuality, bestiality, polyamory and others are sanctioned and deemed falsely deemed equal. Do not believe me, just look at nations that sequentially fell down the contraception, divorce and LGBT precipices before Sri Lanka.
Your Reverences, the synod will come and go. Yet the truth will prevail. Popes will come, have consistories, and go. Hats of red and scarlet, even of white, are of this world. Your damnation is eternal and hellfire will make scarlet look cool and blue. How much longer will you keep silent as the wolves devour the souls under your custody?
It is high time to repent of your apathy. Rise up for Christ and His Truth. Speak up for the sake of our children. Denounce the Dolawatte Sodomy bill before it is too late.
